W.R. McCain

Over 50 years ago, my grandfather, W.R. McCain, saw a need for high-quality, durable, affordable signage, and he founded Universal Signs & Accessories to meet that need.

Universal Signs & Accessories is founded as a customer solution-oriented family owned and operated business providing traffic signs.

1979

W.R. McCain’s son, Dixon R. McCain joins as Vice President to expand the business

1982

Universal Signs & Accessories opens full metal fabrication facility serving the traffic safety industry.

2003

Universal Signs & Accessories acquires commercial sign and graphics company, Spectrum Screen Printing & Signs, to serve the commercial graphics industry.

2005

W.R. McCain’s grandson, Bret McCain joins the firm, originally as an Account Manager then Vice President to expand the business.

2006

Universal Signs & Accessories expands to provide installation services to customers for easy, turn-key solutions.

2007

Universal Signs & Accessories expands to providing Intelligent Warning Systems by collaborating with clients to design, supply, and apply intelligent solutions for standard and unique traffic safety needs.

2013

St. Lucie Co. awarded USA with the Graphic Design Services Award

2016

Universal launches the Rebounder Sign Systems, a composite sign system designated to withstand multiple vehicle impacts saving clients time and money maintaining their signs.
